What Makes a High-Quality Grease?

Industrial grease is a semi-solid lubricant formulated using:

• Base Oils – mineral, synthetic, or biodegradable oils selected for operating temperature and viscosity requirements
• Thickeners – including lithium, lithium complex, calcium sulfonate, aluminium complex, and polyurea systems
• Performance Additives – designed to improve oxidation resistance, wear protection, and extreme-pressure performance

Common NLGI Grades of Grease

Selecting the correct NLGI Grease Grade helps improve lubrication performance, reduce wear, and extend service intervals.

• NLGI 000 & 00 – Fluid greases used in centralised lubrication systems
• NLGI 0 & 1 – Softer greases suited to cold climates and enclosed gearboxes
• NLGI 2 – The most common grade for wheel bearings, electric motors, and general industrial use
• NLGI 3 – Firmer grease for high-temperature and heavy-load applications
